Roomba is made by iRobot, who manufacture robots for the military and for space exploration. This domestic product is a result of extensive research and engineering, from a company used to making robots for the harshest environments, such as bomb disposal.

- Clean program. Simply press to start Roomba cleaning
- Roomba senses room size and stops when finished
- Spot clean facility. Roomba concentrates on, for example, a spill on the carpet
- Max facility. Leave the doors open and Roomba cleans until it exhausts the battery
- Dirt sensor. If Roomba detects a particularly dirty patch, it concentrates on that patch. The blue light indicates this facility is in play
- Battery charges from flat to full in 6 hours. Twice as quick as Roomba

- Stasis sensor. Roomba knows when it is stuck and a sophisticated program allows it to escape

- Improved gearing and power transmission has made Roomba 2 even quieter
- Easy clean brush assembly. Simply release two plastic clips to allow removal of the entire brush assembly. Much quicker and easier than Roomba 2
- Advances power system (APS) means Roomba charges in half the time compared to Roomba 1, it will run for 25% longer i.e. up to 75 minutes on a full charge and the battery will last for 50% longer
- Clean air system the air is filtered before going through the motor
